Entry requirements in full
Two separate tracks — apply under the one that matches your background.
- Group 1 · degree holders — BSc Nursing degree.
- Group 2 · diploma holders — ANM or GNM after 12th.
Both groups also sit an online interview with the university.
Language. Required. IELTS 6.5, PTE 55 or TOEFL 60, plus the online interview. There is no waiver on this programme — the placements are with Finnish-speaking patients.
Fees. €12,500 per year. Intake: March 2027 — estimated, confirmed once the cohort is formed.
- Bachelor's degree in any field.
- Two years of work experience in education — trained teachers, school administration staff, principals or managers in the education system.
- English language certificate — IELTS 6.5, PTE 55 or TOEFL 60.
Admission: direct with a language certificate. Applicants without one must clear an interview instead.

Straight answers
The six things everyone gets told wrong
These are the questions where bad information costs students money. Here is what the rules actually say.
No. Nobody can and anyone who says otherwise is selling you something. Universities decide admission. Migri decides permits. What we can promise is an honest read on your chances before you spend money on an application.
It depends entirely on the programme and across our four current programmes all three answers appear. Metropolia's Nursing Top-Up requires a certificate — IELTS 6.5, PTE 55 or TOEFL 60 — plus an interview. HUMAK's Education Management diploma gives direct admission with a certificate, or an interview without one. Both Metropolia diplomas, Software Engineering and Industrial Management, need no certificate at all — the university assesses your English in its own online interview. Check the programme, never the country.
€800 a month, €9,600 for a study year of a year or longer, per Migri. This is money for living — it does not cover tuition you still have to pay.
Yes — an average of 30 hours a week, which works out to 120 hours a month and 1,560 hours a year. It is an annual average, not a weekly ceiling, so a heavy summer and a quiet exam term are both fine. Credited internships and thesis work don't count towards it when agreed in advance.
We won't quote you a number, because the honest answer changes. Migri publishes its current processing times and updates them — check that page before you book flights or give notice at a job. If someone quotes you “three weeks”, ask them where they got it.
You can apply for a residence permit to look for work or start a business, for up to two years, at any point within five years of your study permit expiring. Permanent residence is a separate, conditional process — it depends on continuous residence and on meeting the conditions in force at the time.
