The route

Five stops between here and Helsinki

Nothing skipped, nothing hidden. You always know which stop you're on and what happens next.

1

Consult

A call, online or at the Mohali office. We look at your marks and your budget and tell you plainly whether a Finnish programme fits — and which one. If it doesn't, we say that too.

2

Apply

We build the application with you: form, documents, statement, fees. You see every field before it's submitted.

3

Test

Most programmes run an entrance exam. Weekly online prep sessions until you've sat it, included.

4

Permit

Funds proof, insurance, the full document set. We get your file ready — Migri makes the decision, and we'll never pretend otherwise.

5

Helsinki

Housing, the first-week practicalities, registration, a bank account. And a person you can still message in February.

Money

What a year in Finland really costs

Published figures, checked in 2026, with the source named. Re-checked every January, because Migri and Kela revise in the new year.

Per month, in euros

Student housing€450 – €800
Total living costs€1,000 – €1,300
Minimum funds you must show€800
€0€1,000€2,000
Student meal max €3.10 Student healthcare €70.70 / year Transport 40% student discount

Living costs: University of Helsinki. Funds requirement: Migri. Meal subsidy and healthcare fee: Kela and FSHS, 2026 rates. Tuition for non-EU students is separate — roughly €8,000–€20,000 a year for English-taught degrees, and nothing at all for EU/EEA citizens.

€9,600

Funds you show for a study year — €800 a month. A scholarship reduces it by its own value. This is separate from tuition you still owe.

1,560 hours

What you may work in a year — an average of 30 hours a week, not a hard weekly cap. Credited internships and thesis work are exempt if agreed in advance.

2 years

The permit you can apply for after graduating, to look for work or start a business — any time within five years of your study permit expiring.

Straight answers

The six things everyone gets told wrong

These are the questions where bad information costs students money. Here is what the rules actually say.

No. Nobody can, and anyone who says otherwise is selling you something. Universities decide admission. Migri decides permits. What we can promise is an honest read on your chances before you spend money on an application.
It depends entirely on the programme, and across our four current programmes all three answers appear. Metropolia's Nursing Top-Up requires a certificate — IELTS 6.5, PTE 55 or TOEFL 60 — plus an interview. HUMAK's Education Management diploma gives direct admission with a certificate, or an interview without one. Both Metropolia diplomas, Software Engineering and Industrial Management, need no certificate at all — the university assesses your English in its own online interview. Check the programme, never the country.
€800 a month, €9,600 for a study year of a year or longer, per Migri. Any scholarship you hold reduces the amount by its value. This is money for living — it does not cover tuition you still have to pay.
Yes — an average of 30 hours a week, which works out to 120 hours a month and 1,560 hours a year. It is an annual average, not a weekly ceiling, so a heavy summer and a quiet exam term are both fine. Credited internships and thesis work don't count towards it when agreed in advance.
We won't quote you a number, because the honest answer changes. Migri publishes its current processing times and updates them — check that page before you book flights or give notice at a job. If someone quotes you “three weeks”, ask them where they got it.
You can apply for a residence permit to look for work or start a business, for up to two years, at any point within five years of your study permit expiring. Permanent residence is a separate, conditional process — it depends on continuous residence and on meeting the conditions in force at the time.

Moving to Finland to study was one of the biggest decisions of my life and FinnishLine made it feel manageable. They guided me through the application, visa and admission process and were always there when I had questions. I completed my BBA at Laurea University of Applied Sciences and have since built experience in logistics and terminal operations here in Finland. To anyone dreaming of studying in Finland: it takes patience and effort, but it is worth it.
Jaskirat SinghBBA, Laurea UAS · now in logistics in Finland
From the beginning of my study visa process, their team provided guidance, support and assistance at every step, making the entire process smooth and comfortable. What I especially appreciate is that their support continued even after my visa approval and arrival in Finland. They helped me with accommodation before I arrived, as well as airport pick-up and drop-off, making my transition much easier and stress-free. I highly recommend FinnishLine to students planning to study in Finland.

Moving to Finland to study was a big step for me and FinnishLine made the journey much easier. They guided me through my university application, documents, entrance exam, interview and residence permit process and were always there whenever I needed help. I am now continuing my Information Technology studies at Metropolia University of Applied Sciences. I would definitely recommend FinnishLine to students planning to study in Finland.

They made the whole process easy from start to finish — they guided me in choosing my study option, helped me prepare my application and supported me through every step of the documentation, so I always knew what to do next. I studied a Bachelor's in Business Administration at Laurea University of Applied Sciences. FinnishLine also told me about the opportunity to complete my degree early and helped me confirm it with the university, so I was able to graduate in just two years. Today I'm working full time in Finland.
Dakshveer SinghBBA, Laurea UAS · graduated early, now working full time
Finland stood out to me as one of the best countries for quality education and FinnishLine made the whole journey smooth. They helped me choose the right study option, prepared me for my interview and guided me through all my VFS documentation. Everything was shared well in advance with timely reminders, so nothing was left to the last moment. Today I'm in my second year at Metropolia, studying Software Development and AI while working part time.
Sehwinder Singh2nd year, Software Development & AI, Metropolia UAS

Sehwinder now also works part time with the FinnishLine team.
